Make your own ribbon chandelier

Make your own ribbon chandelierOh you pretty thing you ribbon chandelier… Having just lost an hour in the wonder that is Pinterest, in the search for something beautiful that we can make tomorrow, we were drawn to yet more pom pom crafts – and this one is more than enough to make us smile and get making. Yes, a Chandelier – made with ribbons and pom poms – we are SO in love!

Making pompoms is really fun too, whether old-school and using a cardboard ‘loom’ as it were, or using one of the brilliant pompom makers, as www.artbarblog.com has done over on their website, it’s amazing to see your old collection of wool transformed into something so amazing!

We also have LOADS of ribbons, saved from gift wrapped presents, and umm, the sad closing of a local haberdashery shop, which meant that we bought up practically the entire stock of the prettiest ribbons. We’ve have been saving them for a craft just like this!

And this ribbon chandelier is going to be a shared labour of love, as all of the kids in the family are keen to get this one going – Our teenage/pre-teen kids are never too old to craft with their parents, as I was reading a brilliant blog by the Headmaster of Acorn School, an independent school in Nailsworth, Stroud – it’s a great way to strengthen the bond between parents and children. Even better, it’s going to be a gift for a new baby, wouldn’t this look so pretty hanging in the nursery above the crib?

It’s going to be tough to part with the ribbon chandelier actually, as I think it would look so lovely in our bedroom!! So ditch the technology for the weekend, and get crafting, it’s a great way to spend time with your family, time to chat and giggle and make plans – and you’ll have fun in a really productive creative way together as a family!

Read more here – and check out more fabulous photos…
